PARROT CALLS POLICECLEETHORPES, England -- Cracker the Parrot got police in a flap when he dialed the police emergency number on his owner's phone. Dispatchers were baffled when the bird called Humberside Police's Northern Command Center and kept squawking down the line. Officers traced the call and discovered the mystery caller's identity after sending a squad to Cracker's home in North Lincolnshire. When an officer failed to get an answer at the door, he looked through the window and spotted 5-year-old Cracker pecking away at the telephone. Owner Kevin Langford said, "He's a bit of a rogue. He had let himself out of his cage and, when I got home, he had completely demolished my telephone." |
