ELECTRONIC GREETING CARDS USED TO REPEL MOLESNORTHHAMPTONSHIRE, U.K. -- Christmas cards which blare festive jingles are being used to get rid of moles in a park in Northamptonshire, England.Rangers at Sywell Country Park and Reservoir aim to plant the devices deep inside a mole hill when one appears. They fear the moles' constant burrowing could damage parts of the reservoir. Mike Anderson told the Northampton Chronicle & Echo, "The idea of using musical cards came to me over the festive season and this is a non-lethal, low-cost way of stopping the moles burrowing into the dam. "We hope the awful noise will encourage the moles to abandon tunnels near the dam and go elsewhere. Most people will probably be glad to bury the cards." |
